Second Half Surge Gives MIT Edge Over Men's Soccer

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. – A gritty first half lead that saw the Emerson Lions Men's Soccer team take an early lead off Cory Walls blast in the first half blast wasn't to remain Monday night as EC fell 4-1 to the MIT Engineers at Rotch Field in Boston. Noah Price also showed a heroic effort with 11 phenomenal saves, with the Lions ultimately falling to 0-3 on the season.

The first half saw the Engineers come out at the bell swinging as they launched 17 shots at Emerson in the half though the ferocious Lion D kept them off the board though the majority of the half. EC made the use of their shots in the half though as a stellar pass from Jacob Lawrence gave Cory Walls the perfect ball he needed to send one without a doubt to the back of the net as EC took a 1-0 lead.

The Engineers seemed to figure out the crux of the Lions game plan in the second half though as they ripped out of the break in the 49th minute as Jon Kramer drilled one about 20 yards out to find the top left of the goal and even it up.

The Lions put some heart into it, but couldn't find an offensive rhythm through the half, with the defense giving it their all but wearing down in the 71st minute when a header from Ben Lewis found net, even with Noah Price battling off several saves. Two more quick goals in the 85th and 88th minute sealed it for the Lions as they drop their third loss of the season.

EC will spring back to action this weekend as they travel to Daniel Webster to take on the Eagles this Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
