Box Score NEWTON, Mass. – The Emerson Men's Soccer team tipped off their conference slate of the season Saturday afternoon as they faced a potent Lasell Laser team looking to keep their undefeated season alive. While Emerson outshot the Lasers 21 to 18, Lasell proved to make more use of the shots though as they used a second half surge to take off with a 4-1 win. Ken Nikravesh netted the goal for EC as they fell to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in GNAC play while the Lasers move to 3-0-1 on the year and 1-0 in the conference.
The first half was even keeled as both sides pushed a heavy offensive attack with Emerson gunning for the goal with 14 shots in the half. The Lasers struck first though as Jacob Allen put a head on a cross shot in the 12th minute of action. EC rallied back in the 26th minute of play though as Ken Nikravesh made good use of his only shot of the night to head in a deflected ball from Juan Ossa to make it ones headed into the half.
The second half saw Lasell swing into action though as they scored two quick goals on the Lions to change the tempo of the game with a long shot from 25 yards out finding some netting and Evan Gaccione's bending corner kick coming to rest in the goal as well.
The Lion defense kept up solid play after that, but the offense couldn't get working on all cylinders as the Laser D locked them down, allowing only one shot on goal in the half. A penalty kick in the 78th minute cost EC again as Adam Luciano was tripped in the box and went on to pocket the PK and make it 4-1 where it would finish.
The Lions roar back into action on Monday as they set to face MIT at home at 5:30 p.m. at Rotch Field in Boston.
