Box Score SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Jon Haven's unassisted goal in the 51st minute of action and Noah Price's four saves for his third shutout of the season were the fuel to the fire Monday night as the Emerson Men's Soccer team took off with a 1-0 win over the Suffolk Rams to move to 7-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play while Suffolk falls to 4-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the GNAC.
The first half saw the Lions hungry for action as they peppered shots at the Rams, posting nine in the half to SC's four with Noah Price making three saves to Suffolk's James Potter's two to keep it at a dead heat after 45 complete minutes.
It didn't take long in the second half to see some change though as Jon Havens cracked a shot toward the Suffolk net which bounced out for a rebound that he also collected to blast into the net and break the stalemate in EC's favor.
The Lions matched their shot tally in the second half as well putting up nine shots yet again, but only one finding its home on nylon island as the Rams shut down the Emerson offense for the rest of the duration. That was fine by EC though as they pulled the same trick out of their sleeve to handcuff the Suffolk attack by only allowing four shots in the half again with Price only needing one save to hold on to the shutout.
The Lions are back at it this week as they head to UMASS Boston to take on the Beacons at 3:30 p.m. this Wednesday in Boston.
