Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – With a Rivier resistance only able to last a half, the Emerson Men's Soccer team nearly matched their season high for goals in only 45 minutes as they put seven away in the second half to rise to a 7-0 win. Ken Nikravesh and Jacob Lawrence both netted two in the match as Emerson moved to 5-5 on the year and 4-1 in GNAC play while Rivier falls to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in league play.
The first half saw the Lions run the show as the game saw EC dominate possession in Rivier's half of the field. The Raiders held strong though as they escaped 15 shots by Emerson with five on goal to keep the stalemate going even as the Lions held the ball in Raider territory nearly the entire half.
Round two moved a little faster as Emerson couldn't be contained much longer as the 49th minute rolled around which saw a ball deflect off the Raider defense which Jacob Lawrence didn't need much more incentive to give a good home to as he pulled the trigger on a shot to the top right pocket of the net to give EC the 1-0 lead.
From there the explosion of offense was unreal as the Lions unleashed a rash of shots to the Raiders goal where Rivier seemed helpless to stop as Ken Nikravesh netted two more on the season in the 55th and 63rd minutes with Evan Gooden dropping some knowledge in between Nikravesh's goals to collect one of his own in the 56th minute making it a quick 4-0.
Jacob Lawrence struck again just seconds after Nikravesh's second to make sure they kept pace with one another. Jesse Senger and Alex Pappas stepped up for another golden goal of their own in the 79th minute which only lead to Edward Carillo placing one in the top right corner to close out the match in high fashion with a 7-0 final.
The Lions are back in action on the road as they travel this Wednesday to take on the Anna Maria Am Cats in more GNAC action at 5:30 p.m. in Paxton, Mass.
