BEVERLY, Mass. (September 8, 2026) – Emerson College served up a season-high 16 service aces on its way to a fourth-straight win to open the season after dispatching Endicott College 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-16, 25-23) in a non-conference women's volleyball matchup at MacDonald Gymnasium tonight.
Junior Chloe Hokenson led Emerson by filling out the box score with 11 kills and 12 assists for her second-straight double-double, adding five service aces, seven digs and four blocks. Senior Rachel Dickerson also totaled 11 kills for the Lions with seven digs, while classmate Lauren Yoo added 15 digs, five assists and two aces. Junior Sophia Schiappa dished out a team and season-best 19 assists with seven digs, while sophomore Dalena Garrett chipped in with four aces.
Senior Hadley Helenbrook posted a match-high 13 kills to lead Endicott with six aces, eight digs and three blocks. Junior Hannah Maguire dished out a match-high 37 assists with nine digs and two blocks, while freshman Lincoln Abramaitys hit .391 with 11 kills, 12 digs and two aces.
Emerson took control of the match by winning the opening set with a .304 hitting percentage as Hokenson posted three kills on three total attacks, four assists, two aces and two block assists.
Endicott evened the match behind seven kills and three aces from Helenbrook, while Maguire dished out 12 assists. Emerson regained the edge in the match by serving up six aces to go with a .346 hitting percentage in the third set. Hokenson had four kills on seven attacks, while Yoo and Garrett contributed two aces apiece.
Emerson rallied in the fourth set to close out the match, erasing a seven-point deficit (11-4), behind three kills apiece by Hokenson and Dickerson, two aces by junior Sami Kim, and taking advantage of five service errors by the Gulls.
Emerson has won its first four matches of the season for the first time since opening the 2023 season with a 5-0 mark.
Emerson (4-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Friday when it opens the New York University Violet Invitational against University of St. Thomas (Texas) at 4:30 p.m. The Lions next home match is next Tuesday, September 15, when they host Dean College at 7 p.m. Endicott (2-1, 0-0 CNE) hosts Bates College on Friday at 6 p.m.
