BOSTON, Mass. (September 28, 2026) – Salve Regina University pulled away in the second half to record a 5-0 victory over Emerson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer matchup at Rotch Field tonight.
Salve Regina got goals from five different players in securing its third-straight win with senior Sabrina Lawless preserving the shutout with two saves.
Freshman Sienna Mastroianni put Salve into the lead just 4:08 into the match off a pass from senior Olivia Tacconi. The Seahawks extended their lead with four second half goals, including a three-goal flurry over an eight-minute stretch in the first 12 minutes of the second half.
Junior Eilish McGowan doubled the Salve lead with her first goal of the season 4:58 into the second half, before sophomore Paige Jessuck and senior Allie Gallagher each scored their second goals of the year to extend the Seahawks lead. Sophomore Ella Schwarz capped the scoring with her third goal of the season with 2:17 on the clock.
Junior Hailey Forman registered four saves over the first hour of the match, before sophomore Addie Costello played the final half hour.
Emerson (2-4-2, 0-2-0 NEWMAC) is right back in action on Wednesday when it visits Amherst College for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. The Lions return home on Saturday to host Clark University for a NEWMAC match at 1 p.m. Salve Regina (4-1-3, 2-0-0 NEWMAC) hosts Rhode Island College on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
