BOSTON, Mass. (September 22, 2026) – First year Cade Lagerwey scored a pair of second half goals to rally Emerson College from a halftime deficit and secure a 2-1 triumph over Bridgewater State University in a non-conference men's soccer matchup at Rotch Field tonight.
Lagerwey's first collegiate multi-goal match lifted Emerson from a 1-0 halftime deficit in the final half hour of the match, while junior Vigo Cassidy assisted on both markers. Junior Jack Wasserman also collected an assist in the match for the Lions.
Sophomore Asa Roberts finished with two second half saves in the Emerson goal to hold Bridgewater after the first half strike. Senior Kyle Sullivan finished with eight stops in the Bridgewater State goal, while classmate Hector Bucio scored a first half goal for the Bears.
Bucio gave Bridgewater the lead with 10:14 to play in the first half against the run of play when he knocked in a loose ball off a scramble on the left side of the six following a square ball from senior James Billiter for his fourth goal of the year.

Lagerwey provided Emerson life with his third goal of the season following a free kick from Vigo from just inside the halfway line that was headed back across goal by Wasserman for a side-footed shot into the right side of the net in the 69th minute. The goal halted a four-match scoreless drought for the Lions dating back to their 3-0 win at Nichols College on September 5 that spanned 453:24 since Lagerwey netted their third marker that day in the 67th minute.
Lagerwey added the winner in the 81st minute when he pounced on a loose ball after Cassidy's service off a throw in was parried directly into his path by Sullivan for a shot into the left side of the net for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Emerson (4-3-1, 0-1-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Saturday when it visits Salve Regina University for a NEWMAC matchup at 2 p.m. The Lions return home next Tuesday, September 29, to host Westfield State University at 6 p.m. Bridgewater State (2-2-2, 1-0-1 MASCAC) hosts Westfield State on Saturday at 11 a.m.
