Women's Volleyball Duo Earn NEWMAC Weekly Honors

Hokenson named Offensive Player of the Week for the first time, Yoo collects first Defensive Player of the Week honor

BOSTON, Mass. (September 15, 2026) – Emerson College's women's volleyball duo of senior Lauren Yoo and junior Chloe Hokenson have both collected New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly honors, presented by SKYBOKX109 Sports Bar & Grill in Framingham, Massachusetts, the Conference office announced.

Hokenson was named the NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career, while Yoo was tabbed the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time, after the duo led Emerson to a 3-1 week that included a pair of five-set triumphs, including a victory over No. 25-ranked New York University on Saturday. It marks the first NEWMAC weekly awards for Emerson women's volleyball since Caroline Davis '25 was named Defensive Player of the Week in September 2021.

Hokenson recorded back-to-back triple doubles and added two additional double-doubles in leading Emerson to the 3-1 week. She averaged 2.84 kills with a .364 hitting percentage with 5.16 assists, 0.42 service aces, 2.84 digs and 0.63 blocks per set while scoring a team-high 70 points for the week.

Hokenson opened the week by filling out the box score with 11 kills and 12 assists for her second-straight double-double, adding five service aces, seven digs and four blocks in Tuesday night's 3-1 win at Endicott College. She posted a .457 hitting percentage with her season-high 18 kills on 35 total attacks and just two errors in Friday night's 3-2 win over University of Saint Thomas (Texas), with 31 assists and career-best 26 digs, two service aces and four blocks for her first triple-double of the weekend. Hokenson registered her second-straight triple-double (sixth career), against Montclair State University on Saturday with 14 kills and a .393 hitting percentage with just three errors on 28 total attempts with 29 assists, 15 digs and two blocks. She capped the week with her third double-double of the season in Saturday's five set triumph at #25 NYU by recording 11 kills with just two errors on 29 total attacks for a .310 hitting percentage to her 26 assists, six digs and two solo blocks in the contest.

Yoo earns NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time after helping the Lions to a 3-1 week.

Yoo averaged 3.58 digs per set over Emerson's 3-1 week, contributing 0.47 service aces and 1.37 assists per set. She posted 15 digs, five assists and two aces in Tuesday night's 3-1 win at Endicott. She recorded her first career double-double with a season-high 27 digs and career-best ten assists in Friday night's five set win over St. Thomas (Texas), and then contributed 14 digs, eight assists and five aces against Montclair State. Yoo capped the week with 12 digs, three assists and an ace in Saturday's five set triumph over No. 25 NYU.

Hokenson has started all seven matches for Emerson this season and ranks ninth among NEWMAC leaders with her team-leading .335 hitting percentage, while ranking seventh with 6.03 assists per set, also contributing 2.47 kills, 0.47 service aces, 2.57 digs and 0.43 blocks per set, having totaled 96.5 points (2nd NEWMAC) over 30 sets played. She has totaled three double-doubles and the two triple doubles that ranks second nationally in Division III.

Yoo has also started all seven matches for Emerson and ranks fifth among NEWMAC leaders with 3.97 digs per set, adding 0.43 service aces and 1.40 assists over her 30 sets played with one double-double.

Hokenson, an All-NEWMAC second team selection as a sophomore, has played 232 sets over her 61 career matches played at Emerson and has totaled 403 kills, 1,386 assists, 117 aces, 520 digs and 106 blocks, averaging 1.74 kills. 5.97 assists, 0.50 aces, 2.24 digs and 0.46 blocks per set over her career. She has logged 20 double-doubles and six triple doubles over her career. She has been named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team and earned Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators.

Yoo has played 246 sets over her 64 career matches played and totaled 649 digs, 122 assists and 87 service aces, having averaged 2.64 digs and 0.35 aces per set. She has recorded one double-double, was named to the NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship Team last season and earned NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honors.

Emerson (6-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Tuesday night when it opens a four match homestand by hosting Dean College for a non-conference matchup at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium at 7 p.m. The Lions host Muhlenberg University and Rhode Island College for a tri-match on Boylston Street on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
