#11 Babson Defeats Men's Tennis

Batlanki and Lidman lead four double winners for Beavers

BABSON PARK, Mass. (April 8, 2026) – Babson College, ranked No. 11 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III national rankings swept its way to a 7-0 victory over Emerson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis match at Babson Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Highlights

  • Freshmen Rishi Batlanki and Max Lidman led a group of four double winners for Babson.
  • Sophomore Mason Nguyen and freshman Sourish Gadhi also posted wins in singles and doubles play for the Beavers.
  • Freshmen Maxim Zlobinsky and Dylan O'Connell-DeCerchio each contributed singles wins for Babson.

How It Happened

  • Babson clinched the first point by dropping just one game in taking No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, but a notable battle at No. 1 doubles saw Gadji and senior Martin Mejia edging the Emerson duo of junior Filippo Nocchi and sophomore Connor Leung in a tiebreaker to complete the sweep of doubles play.
  • Babson took the six singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep of the match.
  • Batlanki combined with Nguyen for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point and then followed that up with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Leung at No. 2 singles.
  • Lidman who combined with junior Louis Bourn for a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, added a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 3 singles against Emerson first year Adam Alireza.
  • Nocchi battled against Zlobinsky at No. 1 singles, dropping the second set by a break after falling 2-6 to Zlobinsky in the first set.
