WESTON, Mass. (April 18, 2026) – Emerson College earned its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win of the season with a 4-3 decision over Clark University at Regis Tennis Courts this afternoon.

- Senior captain Carlson Jones and junior Amaya Briones earned a key singles wins for the Lions, while senior Jayden Beverly and first year Anna Matsuura helped the Lions clinch the doubles point with a win at No. 3 doubles.
- Junior Olivia Shipley was a double winner to lead Clark, while senior Merielle Kane and sophomore Larkin Gardinier posted singles wins for the Cougars.
How It Happened
- Emerson earned the doubles point when Login and sophomore Alisa Pimenova sped to a 6-1 win at No. 1 and then Beverly and Matsuura clinched the point at No. 3 doubles by a break.
- Shipley followed up her win at No. 2 doubles with sophomore Elena Zhakov by leveling the match with her 6-0, 6-1 win over Matsuura at No. 4 singles.
- Jones and Login followed with straight sets wins at No. 6 and No. 1 singles for Emerson, respectively.
- Briones earned the deciding point for the Lions with a hard fought 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 triumph at No. 2 singles over Clark freshman Marcela Gonyea (Vienna, Virginia/James Madison).
- Gardinier and Kane both won second set tiebreakers to clinch straight set wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively, for Clark.
