BOSTON, Mass. (April 1, 2026) – Babson College got goals from ten different players in posting a 17-5 victory over Emerson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's volleyball matchup at Lester Rotch Field tonight.
Senior Lilly Bedard led the Babson attack with three goals and three assists with a caused turnover and three ground balls. Sophomore Courtney Laden and freshman Jenna Wong each netted three goals for the Beavers, with Laden also contributing three draw controls, two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Junior Jen Austin chipped in a goal and two assists.
Junior Morgan McGahan collected the win in goal for Babson with four saves and just one goal against in the first half as the Beavers built a 13-1 lead at the intermission.
Junior Ava DelliCompagni and sophomore Laura Lovell each totaled a goal and two assists for Emerson. DelliCompagni also collected five draw controls and a caused turnover, while sophomore Laina Gustafson netted a pair of goals for the Lions with two caused turnovers and a ground ball. Senior Ellie Spotts posted eight saves and seven ground balls in the Emerson goal.
Babson raced out to an 8-0 lead after a quarter of play and did not look back, opening with four goals over the first 3:13 with Bedard posting a goal and two assists during that stretch and Wong scoring twice. The Beavers scored the first nine goals of the contest before Lovell got Emerson on the board with an assist from DelliCompagni three minutes into the second quarter.
Austin opened the second half scoring to put Babson up 13 (14-1), but Emerson scored the next three to draw back within ten with 2:42 to play in the third. Gustafson scored twice during the Lions run, while Lovell assisted on the first two goals. Babson answered with three-straight goals to end the comeback hopes.
