KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 8, 2026) – Emerson College opened its spring break schedule by winning four of six singles matches to overcome the University Wisconsin-Superior for a 4-3 decision in a non-conference women's tennis match at the United State Tennis Association (USTA)/National Training Center this morning.
Highlights
- First year Teah Login capped the Emerson comeback that saw the Lions not only win four of six singles matches, but rally from a set down in two matches to secure their second-straight win to open the spring schedule.
- Junior Amaya Briones also rallied from a set down for her singles win, while sophomore Alisa Pimenova and first year Anna Matsuura both posted straight sets wins for Emerson.
- Senior Daylyn Drew was the lone double winner of the match for either side, helping clinch the doubles point for Wisconsin-Superior, while dropping just two games on her way to a singles victory.
How It Happened
- Drew and sophomore Elif Oezen clinched the doubles point for Wisconsin Superior who swept the three doubles matches with their 6-4 decision at No. 3.
- Matsuura dropped just two games on her way to winning Emerson's first point with her 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles against Wisconsin-Superior junior Lillian Kimber.
- Drew pushed UWS back in front with her 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles against Emerson sophomore Abigail Miner.
- Pimenova pulled Emerson even again with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles against freshman Addison Fee.
- Briones pushed the Lions into the lead when she rallied from a set down for a 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 triumph at No. 2 singles against junior Kate Jonas.
- Sophomore Amery Oberg knotted the match at 3-3 by taking a back and forth 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 victory at No. 6 singles against senior Jayden Beverly.
- Login sealed the comeback win for Emerson with a comeback of her own from a set down in securing a 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 win at No. 1 singles against junior Claudia Curtis.

"Huge comeback today by the women," said Emerson head coach Burke Paxton. "I am really proud of this group. We have been working on mental toughness and battling and after getting swept in doubles and being down in four of six first sets for singles, how we responded to fight our way back was awesome. A great start to the trip."
