Women's Tennis Defeats Albion, 4-3

Login and Matsuura lead Lions as double-winners

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 9, 2026) – Emerson College captured its second-straight win to open its spring break trip with a 4-3 decision over Albion College in a non-conference women's tennis match at the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/National Training Center.

Highlights

  • First years Teah Login and Anna Matsuura were both double winners to lead Emerson.
  • Junior Amaya Briones also earned one of the Lions three singles wins to help clinch the victory.
  • Junior Kendi Bispham and sophomore Abigail Miner provided a key doubles win for Emerson.
  • Senior Rosy Zuun and first years Ada Feasby and Grace Meade recorded singles wins for Albion.

How It Happened

  • Emerson dropped the first doubles match but rallied to take No. 1 doubles with Login and Matsuura combining for a 6-1 win before Miner and Bispham clinched the first point for the Lions by taking No. 2 doubles in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-2).
  • Emerson sewed up the match by winning the top three singles matches as Login and Briones each dropped just a single game on their way to 6-1, 6-0 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
  • Matsuura was as efficient in cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles against Albion freshman Mackenzie Fox.
  • Albion won the bottom three matches with Feasy battling past Emerson senior Carlson Jones in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 14-12.

Coach's Corner
"A great win for the women today," said Emerson head coach Burke Paxton. "Abby and Kendi had a phenomenal comeback to help clinch the doubles point and then after a couple of players were out because of the heat, everyone stepped up and fought super hard in singles. We have been working on our mental toughness and it really showed today."
