Women's Lacrosse Pulls Away at Gordon, 18-7

Career-high ten goals from Gustafson leads Lions to first 4-0 start in program history

WENHAM, Mass. (March 6, 2026) – Emerson College scored eight goals in the fourth quarter to pull away for an 18-7 victory over Gordon College marking the first time the Lions have won their first four games in program history in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup at Brigham Athletic Complex this afternoon.

Sophomore Laina Gustafson scored a career-high ten goals, including four of her eight second half goals in the fourth quarter as Emerson broke open a two-goal lead at the half by scoring 14 goals in the second half. She also collected seven ground balls, four caused turnovers and two draw controls for the Lions.

Junior Ava DelliCompagni added two goals and five assists for Emerson, with four draws, seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. Sophomore Laura Lovell contributed three goals and two assists for five points with two caused turnovers and four ground balls, while senior Ellie Spotts preserved the Lions fourth-straight win to open the season with eight saves, two caused turnovers and nine ground balls.

Senior Violet Manson netted a team-high three goals for Gordon with eight draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers, while classmate Jocelyn Noyes added two goals, four ground balls and a caused turnover. Postgrad Kayla Davidson finished with 15 saves and three ground balls in goal for the Fighting Scots.

Gustafson scored the lone goal of the first quarter with 5:48 to play and then added a woman up goal less than four minutes into the second to spot Emerson a two-goal lead. The Lions carried a 4-2 lead into halftime and then Gustafson opened the second half scoring, assisted by junior Miranda Tanguay 14-seconds into the third quarter.

Gustafson scored three of the first four goals of the second half to stretch the Emerson lead to five goals (8-3) midway through the third quarter and then answered two-straight from Noyes with two more goals, both assisted by DelliCompagni, to open a six-goal lead (11-5) 20-seconds into the fourth quarter.

Lovell assisted on goals from senior Holland Rutter and Gustafson before scoring her second of the game to extend the Emerson lead to nine (14-5) before first year Chloe Guyette added her first career goal to stretch the lead to ten (15-5) and seal the win.     

Up Next

Emerson (4-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) heads west for Spring Break where it will return to action for its first of two on the West Coast on Monday at California Lutheran University at 7 p.m. (ET). The Lions next home game is on Saturday, March 14, when they open NEWMAC play against Salve Regina University at Rotch Field at 1 p.m. Gordon (0-2, 0-0 CNE) visits Mount Holyoke College on Monday at 6 p.m.
