Women's Lacrosse Runs Past Curry, 14-6

DelliCompagni and Lovell combine for nine goals to lead Lions

BOSTON, Mass. (February 28, 2026) – Emerson College wrapped a five-goal run around halftime to key a 14-6 victory over Curry College in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup at Lester Rotch Field this afternoon.

Junior Ava DelliCompagni played a role in nine of Emerson's 14 goals with four goals and five assists, while sophomore Laura Lovell added a career-best five goals for the Lions. DelliCompagni also totaled eight draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover, while Lovell chipped in two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Sophomore Laina Gustafson contributed three goals and two caused turnovers for Emerson, while senior Ellie Spotts preserved the win with five saves, a caused turnover and eight ground balls.

Junior Nicole Michael scored a team-high two goals for Curry with seven draw controls. Senior Grace Grosso also posted two points for the Colonels with a goal and assist, and three ground balls. Junior Alexa Puopolo finished with nine saves and three ground balls in the Curry goal.

Lovell contributed a career-high five goals for the Lions this afternoon.

DelliCompagni had a hand in four of Emerson's first five goals, scoring one and assisting on three others, as the Lions grabbed a three-goal lead (5-2) after she connected with Gustafson for her first goal of the afternoon with 1:56 to play in the quarter.

Each team scored twice in the second quarter with Curry pulling within a goal less than six minutes into the frame after Grosso's goal with 9:13 to play in the half. Emerson restored its three-goal lead (7-4) at the half with Gustafson scoring an unassisted tally with 5:58 left in the half and then DelliCompagni connecting with Lovell for her third goal of the game with 3:30 on the clock.

Emerson extended the run to five goals by outscoring Curry 3-0 in the third quarter with sophomore Bella Vaccari netting a free-position goal a woman up before DelliCompagni scored off a feed from junior Miranda Tanguay with a player advantage with 3:47 remaining in the quarter. Lovell capped the third quarter scoring with her fourth of the game with two seconds to play for a six-goal lead (10-4) entering the final quarter.

Michael opened the fourth quarter scoring to stop the Emerson run and pull the Colonels within five with 13:42 to play, but the Lions sealed the win with the next two goals as DelliCompagni netted her third goal of the afternoon and then assisted on Lovell's fifth for a seven goal cushion with 9:49 to play.

Emerson (2-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts UMass Boston for a non-conference match at Rotch Field at 6 p.m. Curry (0-1, 0-0 CNE) hosts Lasell University on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
