WEYMOUTH, Mass. (February 21, 2026) – Emerson College opened its spring schedule with a 6-1 triumph over Gordon College in a non-conference women's tennis match at The Weymouth Club on Saturday night.

How It Happened

  • Emerson swept the three doubles matches to earn its first point of the day, taking No. 3 doubles by default before Miner and Bispham clinched the point with their 6-3 win at No. 2.
  • Login and Matsuura completed the sweep with their 6-4 decision at No. 1 doubles.
  • Login followed the doubles win up with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles against Gordon sophomore Makayla Otey.
  • Matsuura joined Login as a double winner, rallying from a set down without winning a game for an 0-6, 6-4, 10-8 triumph at No. 4 singles against senior Emma Tiemens.
  • Briones dropped just three games on her way to a straight sets win at No. 2 singles against Gordon sophomore Katherine Kim.
  • Beverly did not drop a game in her straight sets victory against sophomore Abigail Smith.

Coach's Corner
"Great win to kick off our season against a very talented Gordon team," said Emerson head coach Burke Paxton. "I am really happy with how we fought our nerves in doubles and came out with the sweep, and I thought people really trusted their game plan in singles. I want to give a special shout out to Kendi Bishpam who played in her first match in over a year since injuring her shoulder. She played awesome, and it was great to see all her hard work pay off."
