Regis Bounces Back Against Men's Volleyball

Shank serves up balanced attack as Pride bounces back from a set down

WESTON, Mass. (February 12, 2026) – Regis College bounced back from a first set deficit to secure a 3-1 victory (20-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-11) over Emerson College in a non-conference men's volleyball matchup on Higgins Court at Regis Athletics Complex tonight.

Junior Evan Shank spearheaded the Regis attack by spreading out 26 assists to nine different hitters, including seven with multiple kills, while adding two kills of his own with four service aces, five digs and a block assist. Senior Jalen Watt led the Pride attack with ten kills for a .400 hitting percentage and two blocks, while sophomore Adam Bonica added eight kills with just one error on 17 attacks for a .412 hitting percentage and seven digs. First year Haden Houatchanthara contributed eight kills, five assists, nine digs and an ace.

Junior Riley Goldman led Emerson with a match-high 11 kills and three digs, while first year Cade Ott added eight kills, three assists, a service ace and eight digs. Sophomore Mario Cielo-Salinas totaled seven kills and five digs. First year Ryan Chen dished out 27 assists with eight digs and two block assists, while sophomore Cash Muse hit .500 with five kills, five blocks, including three solo, and two digs.

Emerson hit .308 as a team led by four kills on eight total attacks from Goldman as Chen dished out eight assists in winning the first set. The Lions rode the serve of Cielo-Salinas to seven-straight points to aid in rallying from three points down (19-16) to set point (24-19) after a Goldman kill. He had two kills in all during the run, while the Lions also benefitted from three-straight Regis attack errors. First year Jack Ferrie sealed the win with a kill for set point.

Regis rallied by hitting .360 as a team in the second set, before clinching the match with a .425 hitting percentage in the fourth with just one error. Shank doled out nine assists, and chipped in two kills of his own, to six different hitters in the second set as the Pride closed out the set with six-straight points on sophomore Eli Dignazio's serve, benefitting from five Emerson errors.

Regis grabbed the lead by taking the third set, keyed by five kills from Watt. The Pride finished off the three set rally by winning the first five points of the fourth set on their way to an 11-4 lead overall after an Emerson error. Watt and Houatchanthara each delivered four kills for the Pride, while Shank dished out eight assists and served up four aces in the decisive frame.

Emerson (3-5, 0-0 GNAC) is back in action on Saturday when it visits No. 19 MIT for a non-conference matchup at 5:30 p.m. The Lions next home match is Thursday, February 19, when they host Nichols College for a non-conference clash at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Regis (7-5, 0-0 GNAC) will face Hunter College on Saturday at Baruch College in New York City at 1 p.m.
