BOSTON, Mass. (February 11, 2026) – Wentworth Institute of Technology scored six goals in the third quarter to extend a two-goal halftime lead on its way to a 14-8 season-opening victory over Emerson College in a non-conference men's lacrosse matchup at Sweeney Field tonight.
Sophomore Tony Corrado led Wentworth with four goals and an assist, while senior Tyler Longo netted three goals with two ground balls and a caused turnover. Senior Jake Caraluzzi and junior Brendan Kroll each contributed two goals and two assists for the Leopards, while sophomore A.J. Smith finished with nine saves in goal.
Junior Zachary Stern-Hayes paced the Emerson attack with two goals and an assist, adding two ground balls and a caused turnover. Senior Toby Cunningham also totaled three points for the Lions with a goal and two assists, while sophomore Brady Fish scored a pair to go with two ground balls. Senior Ethan Corby registered 11 stops in the Lions goal.
How it Happened
Wentworth scored the first four goals of the game, including a man-up score from senior Colin Ocampo, to grab an early advantage in the opening quarter. Ocampo and Kroll each contributed a goal and assist for the Leopards who extended the lead to 4-0 as Longo added his first goal of the night three minutes into the second quarter.
Fish pulled Emerson back into the game with two goals two minutes apart. Corrado answered with his first goal for Wentworth, but the Lions continued to rally, drawing within a goal (5-4) after Stern-Hayes netted his first of the year 52-seconds into the third.
Caraluzzi and Kroll restored Wentworth's three-goal lead (7-4) three minutes into the third quarter with goals just seven seconds apart. Emerson rallied again on markers by first year Henry Bradley and senior JD Frey a minute apart to draw back within a goal (7-6) with 8:47 remaining in the third.
Wentworth scored the final four goals of the third to carry a five-goal cushion (11-6) into the fourth and then stretched the advantage to five with Corrado's third goal of the run and fourth of the contest overall.
