NEWPORT, R.I. (October 14, 2026) – Emerson College erased a two-goal deficit with 27 minutes to play to earn a 3-3 draw with Salve Regina University in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer matchup at Toppa Field tonight.
Sophomore Carlo Carson had a hand in all three Emerson goals, including both second half markers as the Lions erased a two-goal Salve Regina lead with less than a half hour to play. Classmate Nick Mirogiannis also netted a goal for Emerson, while junior Jack Wasserman dished an assist.
Salve Regina got goals from three different players to erase an early deficit and then opened a two-goal lead that appeared to seal its first NEWMAC win of the season. Juniors Liam Barnett and Ty Ferris as well as sophomore Angelo Cervera scored the three-straight goals for the Seahawks.
Junior Adonis Santiago finished with two saves in goal for Salve Regina, while sophomore Asa Roberts registered one stop in the Emerson goal. That save came with nine minutes remaining in the match to preserve the draw.
Mirogiannis opened the scoring just 2:24 into the match with his fourth goal of the season off a pass from Carson. Salve leveled the match just 2:02 before halftime with Barnett's first goal of the season.
Ferris pushed Salve Regina in front 5:29 into the second half with his eighth goal of the year and then Cervera added a wonder strike off an Emerson turnover in the 64th minute for his first goal of the year that appeared to put the Seahawks in control.
Emerson pulled a goal back less than two minutes later with Carson's first goal of the night in the 65th minute. He added the equalizing goal ten minutes later when he took a deep pass down the left side from Wasserman and fired in his fifth goal of the season in the 75th minute.
Emerson (7-4-3, 0-2-2 NEWMAC) returns to action on Saturday to host Clark University for a NEWMAC match on Senior Day at Rotch Field at 1 p.m. Salve Regina (3-5-4, 0-2-1 NEWMAC) visits Babson College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
