Men's Volleyball Opens with Win Over Fisher, 3-0

Lions hit .375 and deliver 16 service aces in season-opening win

BOSTON, Mass. (January 23, 2026) – Emerson College opened its 2026 season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-12) victory over Fisher College in a non-conference men's volleyball matchup at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium this evening.

Emerson hit .375 as a team and delivered 16 service aces in posting a season-opening win for the third time in five seasons. Junior Riley Goldman paced the Lions with eight kills on 11 total attacks without an error for a .727 hitting percentage, while first year Cade Ott totaled a match-high ten kills in his collegiate debut, hitting .400 with a block assist.

First-year Ryan Chen dished out 30 assists in his first collegiate match for Emerson with four service aces and two block assists. Classmate Davin Clement served up five aces for the Lions in his first collegiate debut, while sophomore Cash Muse chipped in seven kills on eight total attacks for a .875 hitting percentage.

Junior Thomas Bollentin (South Kingstown, Rhode Island) led Fisher with four kills, three assists, two digs and two block assists.

Emerson hit .455 and served up seven aces in the opening set, with Goldman and Ott each recording four kills. The Lions emerged from a timeout and closed the set out with an 11-4 run, scoring five points on Clement's serve.

Emerson hit .500 in the second set with Chen doling out 12 assists to five different hitters with multiple kills. Chen served up two aces and set up a pair of kills as the Lions scored the first four points on their way to a 15-5 lead they would not relinquish.

Emerson closed the match out with two Clement aces and a Goldman kills to cap a third set where Ott paced the attack with three kills.

Emerson (1-0, 0-0 GNAC) returns to action on Thursday when it visits Wheaton College at 7 p.m. The Lions next home match is next Saturday, January 31, when they host Vermont State University Johnson for a doubleheader at Brown and Plofker Gym starting at 11 a.m. Fisher (0-1) travels to Vermont State Johnson tomorrow for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
