ATTLEBORO, Mass. (November 1, 2025) – Emerson College All-Region senior Yasmin Defne Dadikhi made program history yet again by posting a third-place finish to collect All-Conference honors for the second-straight year at the 2025 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Cross Country Championships, hosted by Wheaton College, on the Mark Coogan Course at Highland Park this afternoon.

Dadikhi's program-best third place finish on the six-kilometer course was completed in a program-best time of 21:48.6 to earn All-NEWMAC accolades for the second-straight year after placing tenth (22:06.7) a year ago. She was third at the mile split behind a pair of MIT runners by less than a second, clocking in at 4:16.6. Defne Dadikhi was second at the 3.7-kilometer split behind eventual winner Claire Semerod of the Coast Guard Academy by just eight seconds with a 12:58.2 split. Semerod took the individual NEWMAC title with her winning time of 21:26.6 leading the field of 143 runners, while Kate Sanderson of MIT finished second in 21:38.2.

Defne Dadikhi paced Emerson to an 11th place team finish with 293 points. Reigning national champions and No. 2 nationally ranked MIT won its 18th-straight NEWMAC Championship with 24 points, ahead of second place Coast Guard with 66 points and Wellesley College third with 112.

Senior Olivia Kardos completed a personal-best 73rd place finish at the NEWMAC Championships for Emerson with her time of 25:46.8.

Coach's Corner:

"The women ran a tough race of their own against teams we don't normally see throughout the early part of the season," said Emerson head coach Brandon Fox. "Yasmin ran a phenomenal race and challenged the lead pack to chase down a much-coveted PR and updated school record. Consistency and patience yield big rewards this time of year, so we are excited for her. Teamwise, we look forward to challenging a lot of teams in two weeks at Regionals, where we think we can place in the middle of the East Region."
