BOSTON, Mass.- The Emerson College softball team split a cross-town series at Emmanuel Thursday, prevailing 4-2 before dropping a 3-1 decision.
GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Emerson 4, Emmanuel 2

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emmanuel snagged an early 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
- Emerson notched three runs in the fourth to grab a 3-1 advantage. Izzi Shaffer (Tyngsborough, Mass.) raked a single to centerfield to drive in Caleigh Sheehan (Bolton, Conn.) and Avi Kuperman (Newton, Mass.). Ally Lacey (Londonderry, N.H.) followed with an RBI double to plate Izzi Shaffer (Tyngsborough, Mass.).
- The Saints answered with a run in the home half of the fourth frame to trim the gap to 3-2.
- The Lions tacked on a run in the fifth to stretch the margin to 4-2. Grace Beaulieu (Rochester, N.H.) scored from second base as Avi Kuperman (Newton, Mass.) reached on an error.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Caleigh Sheehan (Bolton, Conn.) collected two hits and scored one run.
- Izzi Shaffer (Tyngsborough, Mass.) finished with two RBIs, one base knock, and one run scored.
- Ally Lacey (Londonderry, N.H.) chipped in with one RBI and one hit.
- Grace Beaulieu (Rochester, N.H.) added one hit, one run scored, and a stolen base.
- Caleigh Sheehan (Bolton, Conn.) spun her second complete game of the season and racked up 11 strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emerson chalked up one run in the second inning to establish a 1-0 edge. Izzi Shaffer (Tyngsborough, Mass.) tagged up and scored from third base on a sacrifice fly by Ally Lacey (Londonderry, N.H.).
- Emmanuel responded with three runs in the bottom of the second to capture a 3-1 lead.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Izzi Shaffer (Londonderry, N.H.) landed two hits and scored one run.
- Jessica Gomez (West Chester, Pa.) finished with a pair of base hits.
- Kate Regan (Manchester, Conn.) tossed 5.1 innings and posted three strikeouts in her second start of the year. Sofia Holden (Amherst, Mass.) worked two-thirds of an inning in her second relief appearance.
