COCOA BEACH, Fla.- The Emerson College softball team defeated Monmouth 8-0 before dropping a 5-1 decision to Baldwin Wallace Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emerson chalked up three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to capture a 3-0 lead. Riley Caiazza (Schaghticoke, N.Y.) scored from second base as Kayla Nuehlen (Wolcott, Conn.) reached base on an error. Mackenzie Rice (Severna Park, Md.) drove in Danica Miles (Toms River, N.J.) with an infield hit before Ally Lacey (Londonderry, N.H.) crossed the dish later in the frame.
- The Lions tallied two runs in the fifth to push their advantage to 5-0. Carly Rosenberger (Conshohocken, Pa.) scurried home from third base on an RBI groundout by Riley Caiazza (Schaghticoke, N.Y.). Kayla Nuehlen (Wolcott, N.Y.) roped a two-out single to centerfield to knock in Izzi Shaffer (Tyngsborough, Mass.).
- Emerson generated three runs in the home half of the sixth to secure its second victory of the year. Sam Zannotti (Dudley, Mass.) laced a double to left field to drive in Grace Beaulieu (Rochester, N.H.). Caleigh Sheehan (Bolton, Conn.) and Riley Caiazza (Schaghticoke, N.Y.) delivered back-to-back RBI base hits to clinch the 8-0 win.
