Men’s Volleyball Claims Wins Over Curry, VTSU Johnson Saturday

MILTON, Mass.- The Emerson College men's volleyball team defeated Curry 3-2 before downing Vermont State Johnson 3-1 Saturday afternoon.


EMERSON VS. CURRY
THE BASICS:
Score: Emerson 3, Curry 2
Records: Lions (4-8) | Colonels (4-10)
 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson captured the first set 25-21 to grab a 1-0 edge.
  • Curry prevailed 25-22 in the second to tie the match at 1-1.
  • The Colonels claimed the third frame 25-21 to jump ahead 2-1.
  • The Lions bounced back with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
  • Emerson edged Curry 15-12 in the winner-take-all fifth set to lock up its second victory of the season over the Colonels.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Chase Fagen (Rye, N.Y.) posted a career-high 23 kills and six digs.
  • Theo Hackett (Portland, Maine) finished with 17 kills and 11 digs.
  • Rookie Cash Muse (Montauk, N.Y.) notched a season-best 13 kills
  • Bryson Beck (Fresno, Calif.) recorded 55 assists, seven kills, six digs, and a pair of service aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Bard posted a 25-20 win in the first set to seize a 1-0 edge.
  • Emerson responded with a 25-21 victory in the second frame to level the match at 1-1.
  • The Raptors captured the third 25-17 to reclaim a one-set advantage, 2-1.
  • The Lions clawed back to triumph 25-20 in the fourth set to knot the contest at 2-2.
  • In the decisive fifth frame, Bard topped Emerson 15-10 to prevail in the first-ever matchup between the squads.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Chase Fagen (Rye, N.Y.) registered a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.
  • Theo Hackett (Portland, Maine) also tallied 10 kills and added seven digs.
  • Cash Muse (Montauk, N.Y.) chipped in with nine kills in the match.
  • Bryson Beck (Fresno, Calif.) finished with 33 assists, six digs, four kills, and three aces.
