DARTMOUTH, Mass. (November 23, 2025) – Emerson College bounced back with a 72-61 victory over the University of New England in a non-conference women's basketball matchup on day two of the Lafrance Hospitality Tournament, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, at Tripp Athletic Center this afternoon.

Sophomore Jessie Silk led three from Emerson in double-figures and collected her second All-Tournament team nod in as many weeks for her efforts. She averaged a double-double of 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game over the Lions two games this weekend, shooting 58.3-percent from the floor (14-for-24), including 3-for-4 (75%) from three-point distance, adding 1.5 assists and a steal per game.
Silk led all scorers with 23 points this afternoon, including 18 after halftime, on 7-of-11 shooting, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, while converting 7-of-11 free-throws by drawing 12 fouls, with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Junior Claire English posted her second double-double in as many days for the Lions (ninth career) with a season-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, and 14 rebounds (seven offensive), two assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Junior Kaylin O'Meara contributed 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting, seven boards, three assists and two steals.
Senior Grace Boucher led three from UNE in double digits with 13 points, connecting on 4-of-12 three-pointers, with four assists, while junior Ella Karavanic added 11 points and three rebounds. First-year Paige Meda chipped in ten points and four boards off the bench for the Nor'easters.
Emerson finished shooting 53.2-percent from the floor, including 71.4% (15-for-21) in the second half and 62.9% (22-35) from the second quarter on after making just 3-of-12 (25%) shots in the first quarter to trail by six (13-7). The Lions trailed by as much as nine (13-4) in the opening frame but scored the final three points to carry momentum into the second.
Emerson extended its run to 10-0 with the first seven points of the second quarter, including four by Silk, to take its first lead (14-13) after a Silk steal and layup two minutes in. Sophomore Lindsay Gould sparked a 9-0 run that put the Lions up seven (23-16) with a three-pointer and English scored four-straight points during the run. O'Meara stretched the Emerson lead to eight (26-18) with a three-pointer with two minutes to play before halftime, before settling for a six-point cushion (26-20) at the break.
UNE pulled within one (26-25) after a Boucher three-pointer two minutes into the third quarter, but Emerson answered with a Silk triple that sparked a 9-0 spurt to push the Lions lead into double-digits (35-25) after another Silk basket with 6:29 remaining in the third. The Lions stretched the lead to 12 (46-34) following a Silk three with 2:26 to play in the third, but UNE scored the final seven points of the quarter, sparked by a Boucher three, to rally to within five (46-41) heading to the fourth.
The comeback ended there, however, as Emerson scored the first six points of the fourth to restore a double-figure lead (52-41) after an English basket inside. UNE drew within seven (55-48) on a driving layup from first-year Emily Picher midway through the fourth but would get no closer. The Lions answered with six straight points as part of a larger game deciding 12-5 run that extended the lead to 15 (65-50) after two Silk free-throws with 2:28 to play.
Noteworthy
- Silk, the reigning NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week, has scored in double figures in all six Emerson games this season and seven-straight games dating back to last year with her 21st career double-digit scoring game. It marks her second 20-plus point outing of the year (fifth career).
- English scored in double-figures for the third time this season (13th career) with her 15th career double-digit rebound game as she posted her second double-double of the season (ninth career).
- O'Meara scored in double figures for the third time this season (eighth career).
- Emerson posted a 45-28 rebounding advantage in the contest.
