THE LEAD
Emerson and Salve Regina battled to the end in a thrilling NEWMAC matchup. Emerson scored two goals and shut out the visitors in the fourth quarter, but the Seahawks would get the final say with a score in the final seconds of an overtime period. Emerson moves to 6-7 on the season and 1-3 in conference play, while Salve Regina improves to 5-5 overall and remains undefeated at 4-0 against NEWMAC opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- From a head-to-head point of view, Emerson and Salve Regina posted similar numbers on turnovers (19-to-16) and ground balls (31-to-37). Both teams were very successful on clear attempts throughout the game, as Emerson went 22-for-24 and the Seahawks went 17-18. Neither team was able to take advantage during their few extra man opportunities, with Emerson going zero-for-three and the visiting side going zero-for-two. The only area where one team had a clear advantage over the other was in face-offs: Salve Regina won 22, while Emerson won six.

Nicholas Fulgione was an important factor in the Lions' offense once again, having a role in four points by scoring three goals and assisting on one.
Jack O'Rourke aided Emerson with a four-point night as well, tallying two goals and two assists of his own.
Birk Swan was credited with four assists, and
Jack Burns joined Fulgione in achieving a hat trick by scoring three goals in the competition.
- The Lions found themselves down 4-2 at the end of the first quarter; the two goals were attributed to
Alex Menendez (11:08, assisted by Swan) and Burns (8:45, assisted by Stern-Hayes). Emerson would come storming back in the second quarter, outscoring Salve Regina 6-4 to send the game to halftime tied at eight goals apiece. Burns scored twice (12:12 and 2:10, both assisted by Swan), along with Fulgione (5:55, unassisted; 0:05, assisted by O'Rourke), while the other two goals of the quarter were credited to
Aedan Kiniry (7:03, assisted by Stern-Hayes) and O'Rourke (2:42, assisted by Kiniry).
- The Seahawks got back out to a two-goal lead in the third quarter, leading their hosts 12-10. The two Emerson goals were scored by Menendez (8:10, assisted by Fulgione) and O'Rourke (1:15, unassisted). Going into the fourth quarter facing a deficit, Emerson scored two clutch goals to send the game to overtime via Menendez (12:18, assisted by Swan) and Fulgione (3:01, assisted by O'Rourke). Despite a hard-fought extra period, Salve Regina managed to find the back of the net with just 21 seconds left, seizing the win in nailbiting fashion.
