Men’s Basketball Outlasts Bridgewater State, 101-98

BOSTON, Mass.- Graduate student Trevor Arico (Saline, Mich.) scored a career-high 38 points to lead the Emerson College men's basketball team to a 101-98 victory over Bridgewater State Tuesday evening at the Bobbi Brown & Steven Plofker Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson raced out to a 21-point advantage with 6:38 remaining in the first half, 41-20, as Jacob Armant (Arlington, Texas) converted a pair of free throws.
  • The Lions boasted a 52-37 lead at the halftime break.
  • Bridgewater State trimmed the deficit to single-digits on a three-pointer by Dante Kikuba with 5:13 left to play, 88-79.
  • Trevor Arico (Saline, Mich.) netted four shots from the charity stripe in the final minute to push Emerson's edge to 101-95.
  • The Bears pulled to within three, 101-98, as Louis Jennings drained a trey with seven seconds to go in regulation.
  • Bridgewater State looked to force overtime with last-second heave but the attempt was off the mark as the home team prevailed 101-98.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Trevor Arico (Saline, Mich.) splashed eight three-pointers in the contest and added a team-high three steals.
  • Jacob Armant (Arlington, Texas) notched 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
  • Lucas Brenner (Miami, Fla.) poured in 17 points on the night.
  • The Lions' 101 points are the most scored in a single game since February 12, 2020.
  • Emerson shot 49.2% from the floor and 43.3% from behind the arc in the win.
  • Bridgewater State finished with a field-goal percentage of 41.4% while connecting on 9-of-22 attempts from long distance.
  • Dante Kikuba paced the visitors with 29 points while Aidan Rock posted a double-double off the bench, tallying 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
