DANBURY, Conn.- The Emerson College men's basketball team earned an 89-83 victory at Western Connecticut State Saturday evening in the first contest of the 2024-25 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emerson constructed an 18-point lead with 8:07 remaining in the first half, 35-17.
- Western Connecticut closed out the opening stanza on a 24-10 run as the Lions clung to a 45-41 edge at the break.
- A trey by Jacob Armant (Arlington, Texas) followed by a fast-break layup by Guillermo Gasset Ruiz (Malaga, Spain) knotted the game at 74-74 with 2:12 left to play.
- The visitors pushed their lead to 79-75 with 1:05 to go in regulation on a bucket by Trevor Arico (Saline, Mich.).
- Emerson converted 8-of-8 from the charity stripe in the final 17 seconds to lock up its first victory of the year.

- Emerson concluded the game with a field-goal percentage of 54.4% while draining 9-of-26 attempts from behind the arc.
