The Lead: The Emerson Women's Volleyball team closed out their trip to New York by splitting the day with Marymount and No. 11 New York University. The Lions secured a win over Marymount in the first game and dropped their final match of the tournament to No. 11 NYU.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
Emerson came out firing on all cylinders in the first set. They quickly took a commanding lead. Marymount struggled to find their footing, with their attack percentage sitting at a meager 3.6%. Emerson's
Amelia Combs,
Parker Cummings, and
Maya Hall led the Lions' attack as Emerson secured the first set 25-12.
Second Set:
In the second set, Emerson showed no signs of letting up. Combs continued her excellent performance with strong kills, while Cummings added precision and finesse to their offensive game. Marymount tried to mount a comeback but fell short, with Kaitlyn Doyle leading their offensive eforts Emerson took the second set 25-16.
Third Set:
Determined to secure the victory, Emerson maintained their momentum in the third set.
Isabella Cubba and
Rachel Dickerson led the Lions in the third set. Emerson's blocking and serving were on point, and they held Marymount at bay. Despite a more competitive performance by Marymount, Emerson managed to close out the match with a final set score of 25-18.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
The match began with NYU seizing control of the first set with a score of 25-20. Emerson's
Amelia Combs and
Parker Cummings led the Lions with 12 and 11 kills, respectively while Haley Holz and Grace Nelson led NYU's attack. NYU's strong defense would help them secure the first set victory.
Second Set:
In the second set, NYU maintained their momentum, taking it 25-17. Holz continued to shine for NYU, and Emerson found it challenging to break through NYU's solid defense. Ella Weider and Leela Anvekar were helped NYU on offense and defense to help NYU take a 2-0 match lead.
Third Set:
Emerson displayed incredible resilience in the third set, mounting a comeback to win it 25-23.
Maya Hall and
Rachel Dickerson led the charge for the Lions. NYU fought back, but the Lions were able to keep NYU at bay and push the match to a fourth set.
Fourth Set:
NYU pulled away in the fourth set and was able to win 25-15. The Lions were unable to gain any momentum in the set as they dropped the match 3-1.
