The Lead: The Emerson Men's Soccer team was defeated by the Springfield Pride to open NEWMAC play. Luke Maxwell put 4 shots on goal, but the Lions were kept scoreless.

First Half:
The first half of the game saw both teams battling for control of the field. Springfield's Chris Cruz made a significant impact early in the match by converting a penalty kick at the 9:37-minute mark, giving Springfield a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Emerson's Beckett Hobbs received a yellow card at the 9:40-minute mark.
Emerson had their share of opportunities, with Luke Maxwell making several attempts on goal, but Springfield's goalkeeper, Noah Pote, was up to the task, making key saves to keep his team in the lead.

Second Half:
The second half continued to be a hard-fought contest, with both teams striving for victory. Emerson's Ivan Bruce and Springfield's Tristan Moran both received yellow cards at the 61:07-minute mark, adding to the intensity of the match.
Springfield extended their lead in the 77th minute when Parker Thornton scored a goal, assisted by Noah Pote, making it 2-0 in favor of Springfield.
