The Lead: Senior Max Davis racked up a game-high 25 points followed by three more double digit showings from graduates Jarred Houston and Nate Martin to bolster the Emerson men's basketball team to a 73-67 victory over Coast Guard on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 12 lead changes and two ties occurred with 15 minutes of the first half gone with the lead margins between both Emerson and Coast Guard never going over three.
- It was at the 5:27 mark when Davis's fourth three-point bucket pushed Emerson in front for good at 27-25. Davis dropped his fifth three of the half to cap of Emerson's scoring as the Lions spread a 13-5 run through the final five and a half minutes.
- Coast Guard chipped Emerson's lead down to five when Shettles canned a trifecta with two ticks left in the frame as the first concluded with the Lions ahead, 38-33.
- Emerson used 6:02 at the start of the second to put together a 21-6 run as Davis drained another shot from range to bolster the host's margin into double-figures at 13 with 8:59 on the clock.
- Nine seconds after Emerson put Coast Guard in a 13-point hole, Rooney's and Shettles' back-to-back three's inched the Bears' within single digits at eight (62-54).
- Another three ball from the Bears' kept them in striking distance at seven (66-59), but a steal from Houston turned into a quick four points for Emerson as the Lions' lead bumped back to 11. (70-59)
- From 2:38 to the 19 second mark, Coast Guard spread an 8-3 spurt to chip Emerson's lead down to six at 73-67. Emerson denied the visitors a chance for a comeback.
- The Bears missed their last pair of perimeter shots with Emerson holding on for the six-point 73-67 victory.
