HOW IT HAPPENED

  • 12 lead changes and two ties occurred with 15 minutes of the first half gone with the lead margins between both Emerson and Coast Guard never going over three.
  • It was at the 5:27 mark when Davis's fourth three-point bucket pushed Emerson in front for good at 27-25. Davis dropped his fifth three of the half to cap of Emerson's scoring as the Lions spread a 13-5 run through the final five and a half minutes.
  • Coast Guard chipped Emerson's lead down to five when Shettles canned a trifecta with two ticks left in the frame as the first concluded with the Lions ahead, 38-33.
  • Emerson used 6:02 at the start of the second to put together a 21-6 run as Davis drained another shot from range to bolster the host's margin into double-figures at 13 with 8:59 on the clock.
  • Nine seconds after Emerson put Coast Guard in a 13-point hole, Rooney's and Shettles' back-to-back three's inched the Bears' within single digits at eight (62-54).
  • Another three ball from the Bears' kept them in striking distance at seven (66-59), but a steal from Houston turned into a quick four points for Emerson as the Lions' lead bumped back to 11. (70-59)
  • From 2:38 to the 19 second mark, Coast Guard spread an 8-3 spurt to chip Emerson's lead down to six at 73-67. Emerson denied the visitors a chance for a comeback.
