The Lead: The Emerson Men's Basketball team traveled across town to take on Tufts University on Tuesday evening. The game was a tale of two halves as the Lions led by as many as 10-points in the first half, only to be outdone by the Jumbo in the second half as they pulled away to a 72-53 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• The Lions and the Jumbo battled back-and-forth throughout the first 20 minutes of action. Lucas Brenner and Trevor Arico led the Lions offense in the first half as they propelled the Lions to their largest lead early in the game. With just over 7 minutes off the clock, the Lions had a 10-point lead; leading Tufts by a score of 14-4.
• Tufts slowly chipped away at the Lions lead throughout the remainder of the first half. The Lions were able to hold a slim lead, but with 1:36 remaining in the half, Jon Medley sunk a layup, giving the Jumbo their first lead since the opening bucket of the game.
• A free throw from Gerald Lawson would knot the score at 25-25 with just over a minute remaining in the half. Neither team was able to take a lead in the final minute and both sides entered halftime knotted at 25.
• The second half saw the Tufts offense come out strong and take a commanding 10-point lead. The Jumbo opened the second half on a 19-4 run to give them a 39-29 lead.
• The Lions tried to chip away at the lead, but the Tufts defense stifled the Lions offense while the Jumbo offense drilled 6 of 10 three-pointers and shot 54% from the field in the second half.
• Tufts largest lead came at the 5:14 mark of the second half as they led the Lions by 25 points. This lead proved to be too much for the Lions to overcome as they fell to Tufts by a final score of 72-53.
