Set 1:
The first set began with Wellesley taking an early lead and never looking back. The Lions could not gain any offensive momentum as they committed 8 errors and only tallied 5 kills on 29 attempts. Wellesley, on the other hand, only committed 2 errors on 25 attempts while tallying 10 kills. This gave Wellesley an easy 25-13 set victory.

Set 2:
Wellesley continued their momentum into the second set, with Kate Giang leading the way. The Lions kept pace with Wellesley in the early portion of the set, but an 8-1 run for Wellesley was the difference maker in the second set. The Lions tried to claw back into the set late but Wellesley ultimately secured a 25-18 victory.

Set 3:
Facing a loss in straight sets, the Lions came alive in the 3
rd set. After falling behind 6-0 to begin the set, it was going to take some work to fight back. The Lions found themselves in a 14-5 hole before calling a timeout that seemed to shift momentum. The Lions rattled off 10 points in a row, including four aces from
Shannon Clark and giving the Lions the first lead of the match and ultimately securing a 25-20 victory and keeping the game alive.

Set 4:
The fourth set saw the Lions keep their momentum as the Wellesley offense began to fall apart. Wellesley committed 7 errors on 31 attempts and only tallying 6 kills. The Lions paced Wellesley throughout the set and cruised to a 25-13 victory and forcing a deciding set.

Set 5:
Wellesley's offense again struggled in the deciding set, committed 8 errors on 32 attempts. The Lions stayed consistent as both sides traded points early in the set. Down 6-3, the Lions rattled off four straight points, regaining the lead and never relinquishing it. Emerson completed the comeback as they secured a 15-9 win and a 3-2 comeback match win.
