HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Six minutes into the first half, Emerson found themselves down eight at 12-4 after Harris dropped a triple. 27 seconds later, Houston contributed six points in the Lions' 8-2 spurt to pull the visitors within a pair at 14-12.
  • At the 8:08 mark, Coman's three-point bucket fell through and inched Emerson to a one-point deficit at 16-15, which was the closest the Lions would come to the Judges for the remaining 12 minutes of the frame.
  • A successful free throw trip from sophomore Trevor Arico counted as the final two Emerson points of the frame to move the score to 31-19 at the 3:09 mark.
  • Neither team would score in the last three minutes as the Lions were outscored, 15-4, down the stretch and headed into the break down 12.
  • The beginning of the second saw Emerson begin to claw their way back from being down 12 and dropped eight points in the first 2:57 to move the margin to nine at 36-27.
  • Emerson dipped back in a double-figure deficit after Lien's jumper at 15:26, yet the Lions' offense sparked for a 10-2 run. The run was capped off by back-to-back trifectas from Coman with the score sat at 43-39.
  • Four was the closest Emerson was able to close in on Brandeis for the Lions trailed by 10+ through much of the final five 15 minutes of the half.
  • Martin and senior James Beckwith got two shots up in the last nine seconds to close the gap to six, but Brandeis used their trips to the free throw line to maintain their lead as Emerson's comeback fell short at 76-70.
