The Lead: Sophomores Amelia Combs and Parker Cummings led the lions with a combined 25 kills as the Emerson Women's Volleyball team defeated the Clark Cougars in straight sets on Tuesday night a Kneller Gymnasium in Worcester MA.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE
- Set one was led by Lions Sophomore Parker Cummings who notched 7 of her 11 kills.
- The closest Clark got to taking a lead in the first set was when the tied the score at 7-7 by way of an Emerson error. The Lions would rattle off 9 of the next 14 points that were scored, giving them a 16-11 lead.
- The Lions kept the pressure on Clark as kills by Senior Jillian Kay, Junior Isabella Cubba, Senior Caroline Bond, and Sophomore Isabella Chu all racked up kills to help the Lions close out the set by a score of 25-19.
SET TWO
- The second set saw Clark gain their first real momentum of the match. The Cougars jumped out to a 6-3 lead over Emerson with help from two Emerson errors and a kill by the Cougars Claudia Rivera.
- The Lions pushed back before Clark opened the lead up to 12-7; forcing Emerson to call a timeout.
- Coming out of the timeout, the Lions were able to regroup and score 9 of the next 13 points scored and take a 16-15 lead; their first lead of the set.
- The two sides would continue to battle and trade points before Emerson was able to capture a lead. With the Cougars in the lead by a score of 20-19, a kill by Sophomore Amelia Combs, an error by Clark, and an ace by Freshman Allie Montenegro, Emerson gained the momentum they needed and pulled away to secure a 25-21 victory.
SET THREE
- Leading the match 2-0, the Lions jumped out to a quick lead in the third set. Kills from Kay, Combs, and Cummings, as well as errors from Clark gave Emerson a 10-4 advantage.
- Clark battled back to bring the deficit to within three points, before the Lions pulled away once again.
- The Lions were able to stifle any momentum Clark tried to gain in the third set as they cruised to a 25-20 victory and a 3-0 sweep.
