HOW IT HAPPENED
- Shooting 46.7% beyond the perimeter, Emerson used the power of the three to hold a steady double-figure lead over Springfield with the score at 49-39 at the half.
- It was at 18:03 where the score was locked at 5-all after Springfield locked the score on a Morales triple, which was the last time the Pride would come close to the Lions. The help of back-to-back three's from Waterhouse and Martin helped bolster Emerson into double-digits at 19-8.
- Over the next several minutes, Springfield was able to erase the deficit down to eight, but once again, the Emerson offense exploded with a 16-0 spurt and ballooned their advantage up into the 20's.
- Up until the five minute mark of the frame, Emerson was able to carry its 20+ cushion over Springfield. The Pride battled and capitalized on Emerson's scoring lull and out scored the Lions 20-1 through the final 4:56.
- What once was a 24-point Emerson lead turned into a 10-point lead as a bucket from Blauner inched Springfield within 10 as the score stood at 49-39 going into the half.
- Emerson's strength at the three continued into the second half and helped the Lions regain its double-figure lead over Springfield, which stood at 12 after Houston completed a successful trip to the charity stripe.
- With Emerson's lead at 12, Springfield capitalized on three missed Emerson baskets and narrowed the Lions' deficit all the way down to six after a quick 6-0 run to put the score at 62-56 with 13:18 on the clock.
- The Lions kept dropping bucket after bucket despite the Pride being able to to sneak back to within 10 as the hosts rattled off 20 more points down the stretch to keep the Pride at bay.
- Beckwith's trip to the line at 1:38 put Emerson back up 20 as a Houston trey and perfect trip to the stripe by Martin sealed the Lions' 98-77 victory.
