HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the opening four minutes of the first half, six missed shots by Emerson allowed Bridgewater State to grab the quick 9-0 advantage over the Lions. The Lions, however, regrouped and cut the deficit down to two behind their own 11-2 spurt that locked the score at 11-all with 11:43 to go.
  • From 10:35 to the 4:03 mark, Emerson level the score up four more times before the Lions took the outright lead over the Bears after a three-pointer from Davis at 1:56 and the score at 34-32.
  • A pair of free throws by junior Ben Allen bumped Emerson's cushion up to five before Bridgewater State took to the charity stripe with 38 seconds in the half as the Lions' lead dwindled to three at 37-34.
  • Emerson's offensive attack continued into the second half as it took the visitors several minutes to give themselves their first 10-point cushion at 45-35.
  • Despite several attempts by Bridgewater State to erase Emerson's lengthy lead, baskets from Houston and Waterhouse helped the Lions keep their advantage over 10 in the middle point of the second half.
  • A shot on the arc by Champagne followed by a layup from Stanley Louis-Pierre pulled the hosts within a mere five points of Emerson, but the Lions went to work on their end and used a quick 5-0 spark to bump its lead back up to 10 at 58-48.
  • The Lions dropped four more points on the Bears as a trey from Beckwith gave the Purple & Gold their largest lead at 14 at the 8:15 mark with the score at 62-48.
  • A free throw from Alan Pettway at 1:50 was the last time Bridgewater State would trail by single digits as Beckwith's back to back triples in the remaining 1:34 iced the Lions' 82-57 win.
