HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson began the first with a quick 6-3 advantage over Wentworth and were able to keep a steady three-point advantage over the Leopards through much of the frame. After Wentworth was able to close within one at 16-15, Emerson took off on a 6-1 streak that pushed their lead up to six at 22-16.
- Wentworth was able to tack on three more points before the set's end, but Emerson locked up the 25-19 win on back-to-back Leopards mishaps.
- Starting out to the 2-0 lead in the second, Wentworth grabbed the lead and held on until 9-7, which is when Emerson put momentum back on there side with a streak of six points to jump ahead by three at 13-10.
- The score locked four more times before Wentworth reclaimed the lead (20-17) and again were able to keep Emerson playing from behind. Emerson went back in front by one at 23-22 behind a 5-1 run that was capped on a kill from Combs only to have Wentworth knot the score 23-all. It was the hosts, however, who iced the second frame with the final two points for the tight comeback 25-23 win.
- Emerson and Wentworth kept the third set close with leads never extend over three. When the score was 15-13 in Emerson's favor, the Lions rattled off the next five points to separate themselves by eight (21-13).
- Wentworth was not going away quietly and tacked on seven more points, but Emerson registered kills from Cummings and Chu to come away with the 25-20 win and the sweep.
