The Lead: Welcoming the No. 5 seeded Coast Guard Bears to the Brown & Plofker Gym, the No. 4 seeded Emerson Lions' Men's Basketball Team fell to the visitors, 80-78, in the Quarterfinals of the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coast Guard jumped out to an early 6-0 lead behind a pair of three pointers from Justin Kane and Garrett Drummond. The Bears extended their lead to seven at 10-3, but Emerson rattled off a 10-2 run capped off by a Nate Martin three pointer to take their first lead of the game at 13-12.
- Emerson and Coast guard stayed within two points of eachother, and Tyler Perez tied the game at 21 for the Bears on a three pointer with just under ten minutes remaining. The Bears took a four point lead with four minutes left in the first half on a Drummond layup at 33-29. Emerson closed out the final four minutes of the half on a 14-0 run, taking a 43-33 lead. Max Davis (Oakland, Calif.) scored the final 11 points of the run, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc. His half court heave as time expired banked in to give the Lions the 10 point advantagee.
- Throughout the first five minutes of the second half, the Lions held their lead, due to three pointers from sophomores Trevor McLean (Boston, MAss.) and Martin with 16:14 and 15:33 remaining respectively. Coast Guard cut the lead to five at 55-50, and eventually cut it to one on a Drummond layup at 12:17, 57-56. Drummond connected on two more threes with Kane connecting on one, with Emerson's only points coming from Jack O'Connor (Newport, R.I.) in the run. Coast Guard took a two point lead at 67-65 with 6:46 remaining.
- The Bears opened up their lead to five a 74-69, but O'Connor connected on a layup and Martin connected on a three pointer with three minutes remaining to cap off the five straight points for the Lions, knotting the score at 74. Coast Guard went on a 6-2 run, putting the Lions down four with eleven ticks remaining on the clock.
- Martin went coast to coast on a layup in six seconds, cutting the deficit to two with five seconds remaining. After a missed free throw by the Bears, Davis launched a three pointer as time expired, but it bounced off the rim, giving the Bears an 80-78 victory over Emerson.
- The Lions close out the season with a 14-12 overall record, going 7-7 in the NEWMAC in the regular season.
