The Lead: A pair of late free throws from Junior Sam Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif) and a steal from Senior Natalie Clydesdale (Pittsburgh, Penn.) lifted the Emerson Lions Women's Basketball Team over the WPI Engineers in their final conference game of the season, 63-60.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson feels behind 4-0 after two quick buckets from the Engineers. Emerson stormed right back and went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by five straight points from Rachel Davey (). WPI connected on a three pointer to tie the game, and the teams traded layups to bring the score to nine a piece. Six straight points from Emerson to close out the quarter gave the Lions a 15-9 lead heading into the second frame.
- Emerson extended their lead to ten at 19-9 early in the second quarter behind layups from Kate Foultz and Davey. WPI rattled off 14 straight points, taking their first lead since early in the first quarter to take a 23-29 lead. A three pointer from Ashley Toner coupled with a layup from Katie Beckmann gave the Lions the lead back in short order. A Chelsea Gibbons three pointer sandwiched between two layups from WPI knotted the score at 27 all heading into the break.
- The third quarter was closely contested, with both the Lions and Engineers scoring five points to open up the frame. Davey connected on a three pointer and Toner made a layup, giving Emerson a five point lead with 5:12 remaining in the third quarter. WPI went on another large run, this time scoring 10 straight to take a 42-37 lead. The teams traded buckets to close out the frame, with the Lions going into the final quarter trailing by five at 46-41.
- WPI opened up their largest lead go the game at 8 on an Alana Keating Three pointer less than a minute into the final frame. WPI lead extended to nine with five minutes remaining in the game. A 6-1 run from Sam Boyle herself cut the lead to four at 55-51. The Lions trailed by three with just over two minutes remaining before Foultz connected on a three pointer, knotting the game at 57. Foultz hit another three pointer one minute later after a WPI free throw, giving the Lions a two point lead. After WPI tied the game, Boyle was fouled with three ticks remaining on the clock. She connected on both free throws and Emerson stole the inbounds pass, with the Lions taking the game by a final score of 63-60.
