HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson commanded the opening quarter and banged out a 15-2 run that gave the visitors their largest cushion of the day after Davey nailed a three in the final minute of the first.
- Wellesley answered on its end on its next possession when Chae countered with a bucket as the Blue stalled the Lions on a 13-0 spurt to even the score at 15-all midway through the second.
- The Lions were outscored by 12 within the second quarter and held to a mere 10 points, which allowed the Blue to take the 26-25 going into the half.
- Back-to-back buckets from Boyle at 9:41 and 8:14 pushed Emerson back in front by three at 29-26, yet Wellesley responded with a 6-0 streak to regain the two-point advantage (31-29).
- Within the closing minutes of the fourth, Toner banked two of her three triples to inch Emerson to a two-point deficit to make the score 51-49 at the 2:31 mark.
- Wellesley used the perimeter on back-to-back possessions to seal the victory as Hirn knocked down a pair with the score moved to 57-49.
