The Lead: Despite 16 points from sophomore Jarred Houston (Norwood, Mass.) and 14 point from sophomore Zach Waterhouse (Hampton, N.H.), the Emerson men's basketball team dropped its meeting with WPI, 87-64, on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the score in a 6-6 deadlock tie, WPI began to break away and quickly gained six points on Emerson behind a 8-2 run that included a pair of triples by McNamara (14-8).
- Martin had his three fall through on the other end and started a quick four-point run that pulled Emerson within one of WPI (14-13).
- The Lions were playing catch up through the remainder of the half as the WPI offense picked up steam and dropped a 15-2 run on the hosts to extend their advantage into double figures at 14 (29-15) with 9:26 left in the frame.
- Four points by Houston and a deep three from Beckwith got Emerson back into a single deficit at seven (31-25) before WPI maintained a 14-point advantage through the end of the half with the score at 47-33.
- Emerson could not get offensive rhythm through the beginning portion of the second half and allowed WPI to gain a lead of 20, which the visitors were able to maintain.
- The Lions were not able to catch up with the Engineers through the second half as the hosts surrendered a 87-65 defeat to the visitors.
