The Lead: The Emerson Women's Basketball Team took down the Emmanuel Saints in a crosstown matchup with a balanced attack and strong defensive play. The Lions earned the victory heading into the short Thanksgiving break before welcoming the No. 2 Tufts Jumbos to Brown & Plofker Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Emmanuel jumped out to an early three-point lead in the first quarter on a Kayla Weaver layup, bringing the score to 8-5. Quinn Madden (Mokena, Ill.) responded quickly with a three-pointer to knot the score at eight. A 6-2 run capped off by a Sam Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif.) jumper gave the Lions a 4 point lead with four minutes remaining in the first frame. The Lions closed out the frame on a 9-2 run behind a pair of three-pointers from Kailee Yan (Mercer Island, Wash.), taking a 23-12 lead into the second quarter.
Emerson came out strong in the second frame, quickly extending their lead to 15. The Saints made a few runs in the second frame, cutting the Lions lead but Emerson was able to hold it at double digits throughout the duration of the quarter. The Lions built their lead to 22 and lead 54-32 at the half.
In the third and fourth quarters, the Lions held their lead and kept the Saints from getting in real striking distance. Emerson led by as many as 30 at the end of the third quarter, with Natalie Clydesdale converting a layup with just under a minute remaining. In the fourth quarter, Emerson held their lead, finishing the game with an 87-64 victory.

Emerson gets back in action next Tuesday when they welcome the Tufts Jumbos to Brown & Plofker Gym. Tufts is currently ranked No. 2 in the country.
