 The Lead: Sophomore Charlie Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif.) dished a team-high 20 points and seven rebounds for the Lions as the Emerson women's basketball squandered a 91-64 defeat against the MIT Engineers in NEWMAC action at Brown & Plofker on Wednesday night. 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
- Boyle finished going 10-for-20 from the floor with 20 points to match seven rebounds and an assist. 
- Junior Maya Savino (Killingworth, Conn.) had a team-high six assists along with one block, while junior Eastin Ashby (Pittston, Penn.) had two steals. 
- Dolly Yuan paced MIT with a game-high 21 points and five assists, while Kara Holinski followed up with 17 points and finished 8-for-12 from the field. 
- Emerson shot 23-for-56 (36.5%) from the floor, hit 4-of-12 (33.3%) three-point shots and went 4-for-6 (66.7%) from the charity stripe. 
- MIT tallied 38-of-66 field goals (57.6%), made 5-of-10 (50%) from beyond the arc and were 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
- MIT jumped out to the 4-0 lead just a minute into the game, but Emerson answered with a 13-2 run that included 10 points from Boyle to take its largest lead of nine at 15-6 with 4:58 left in the first quarter. 
- The Engineers kicked off an 8-0 run with 4:00 on the clock to square the score at 17-all and gained the lead back at 18-17 with 1:44 remaining. 
- MIT held the four point lead at 21-17 in the closing minute of the quarter before a trey from Boyle put the Lions within a pair. 
- To open up the second stanza, MIT banked its first three shots to take an eight-point advantage and held Emerson to within double-digits through the remainder of the quarter. 
- With 13 ticks left in the half, Holinski nailed a three to give MIT its largest lead of the half at 18 before senior Elizabeth Horan (Ashland, Mass.) canned a shot from downtown to put the Lions within 15 at 46-31. 
- The closest the Lions came to within MIT within the third quarter was 13 with 9:24 on the clock at 46-33. 
- Emerson tallied just 5 of its 17 shot attempts (29.4%) within the third quarter as MIT outscored the Lions 28-13 to extend their lead to 30 at 74-44 going into the final 10 minutes. 
- MIT pushed its already extensive lead to 37 on a trey by Maude Gill to put the game away and hand the Lions a 91-54 loss.
