Boston, Mass. – Tyson Hallowell converted the game-winning basket with four seconds left, lifting Emerson College to a thrilling, 67-65 win over Clark University in New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

The win for the Lions avenges an early season 62-57 setback to the Cougars and more importantly catapults them into the fifth and final postseason spot – one full game ahead of the Scarlet and White as well as Wheaton.

Emerson controlled the interior, out rebounding Clark 40-23 and outscoring the visitors 34-14 in the paint.

Even with all that said, the lead changed hands 13 times and saw ten ties. The last lead change came courtesy of a John Pisacreta (Andover, Mass.) three-pointer with 2:38 left, giving Clark a 65-64 lead.

The Lions drew even when they were able to corral a trio of offensive rebounds on one possession and Hallowell eventually split a pair from the charity stripe with 1:26 to go.

After a couple of empty possessions by both teams, Emerson found itself with the ball with less than ten seconds to go.Michael Thorpe (Newton, Mass.) launched a jumper that was off the mark, but Hallowell was there to take in the offensive carom, and convert the ensuing layup, putting the Lions in front for good.

Emerson (8-12, 4-6 NEWMAC) also had substantial edges in both second chance points (16-6) and in bench points (17-2).

Thorpe led a quartet of Lions in double figures, totaling a team-best 19 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Austin Pinckney (Miami, Fla.) added 14 points and nine boards. Geoffrey Gray came off the bench and chipped in with ten points and seven rebounds and Hallowell finished with 12 points and five assists.

Tyler Huffman (West Hartford, Conn.) ended with 20 points – including his 100th career three-pointer. David Mercier(Milford, Mass.) had his second straight strong outing, ending with 14 points and four board, while Pisacreta (12 points, four assists) and Lamar Berk (Saint Augustine, Fla.) – ten points, four rebounds and five assists – joined them in double figures.
