SPRINGFIELD, Mass - Emerson Women's Basketball opened the 2016-17 season on the road with a tough matchup against Western New England. The Lions fell to the hosting Golden Bears 70-55. Western NE rises to 1-1 overall while Emerson drops to 0-1.

Lead scorer for the Lions was Charlie Boyle with 14 points. Right behind her was freshman Quinn Madden with 11 points and junior Eastin Ashby with 10. Natalie Busch lead the team in rebounds with five, and netted eight points herself.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, Nov 19th, at their annual Tip Off Tournament featuring Simmons, Suffolk, and Wesleyan. Emerson and Simmons face off first at 1:00pm. Followed by Suffolk and Wesleyan at 3:00pm.
