BOSTON, Mass - Emerson Men's Basketball suffered a tough loss to the visiting Babson College Beavers, with a final score of 79-53. The Lions are now 7-12,  and 2-6 in the NEWMAC. Babson jumps to 13-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

The Beavers jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead off the hands of  Bradley Jacks and Joey Flannery, but the Lions quickly responded with baskets from Austin Pinckney and John Geary. Tyson Hallowell tied it up at 10-10 with a 3 pointer. But the Lions continued to play catch up as Babson extended their lead 30-16 to end the opening half.

The second half was much of the same with both teams trading baskets. The Lions closed the gap to within seven points early in the second half. This was thanks to two back to back baskets by Michael Thorpe, followed by a made free throw, 42-35. But the opening half lead proved to be too much to overcome as the Beavers closed out the game 79-53.

Stat leaders for Babson include Jacks with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Right behind was Isaiah Nelsen with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Flannery rounded out the offence with 13 points and 5 rebounds.

Pinckney lead the Lions offense with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Thorpe followed up with 10 points, while Geoffrey Gray and Geary put in 6 and 7 respectively.

The Lions return to action on February 3rd when they travel to WPI for a 6:00pm tip off. Babson also plays on the 3rd when they host Wheaton for a 7:00pm game.
