BOSTON, Mass - It was a hard fought game as Emerson Men's Basketball faced the visiting Suffolk University Rams. Despite a strong effort from Suffolk, the Lions were able to pull ahead going into halftime and never looked back as they closed the game 73-54. With the win Emerson rises to 5-6 overall. Suffolk drops to 3-7 overall and remain 1-2 in conference play.

 Suffolk opened the day with a quick layup by Matt Duquette, only 25 seconds into the game. The Lions responded with a jumper by Geoffrey Gray, and a layup by John Geary to take the lead, 4-2. As both teams battled for control of the ball, the Rams found a gap in the Lions defense, allowing Matt McLean to hit a 3 pointer to retake the lead, 17-16.

Geary responded for the Lions with a 3 pointer of his own. This sparked the Emerson offense as they went on a run to close the half 32-24.

In the second half Suffolk continued to fight, but were unable to make up any ground against the Emerson lead. Leading for the Rams was Duquette with 13 points, followed closely by Jake Meister and Michael Hagopian who both had 10 points.

Stat leaders for the Lions include Sean Duffy with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Geary was right behind him with 11 points. Leading in rebounds was Austin Pinckney with 9 and freshman Will Lantier with 8.

Next up Suffolk hosts Lasell on Tuesday the 5th at 7:00pm. The Lions return to action on the road for their first NEWMAC game on Wednesday, Jan 6th, against Babson. Game set for 7:00pm.
