BOSTON, MA - Emerson's Women's Volleyball won both matches in their first Home TriMatch of the season. They took down Lesley in a 3-1 win, and swept Western New England 3-0, never allowing them to score over 19.
Against Lesley, Emerson was on point, three different players had 10 kills: Kelley Guerra (#17), Fara Cohen (#23), and Brittany Schoellkopf (#24). Moira Brennan (#7) had 23 assists.
Stat Leaders for Lesley include Anni Abbruzzese with 13 kills and Kaylee Deluga with 10 kills and 5 service aces. Emily Marden had 29 total set assists.
Emerson came out ferocious in the first set, winning 25-15. The next set was closer, but the Lions came out on top once again 25-19. In the third set, Lesley started gaining steam, and beat the Lions 16-25. However, the fourth set brought a new wind to the Lions. When they were up by just 2 points, Kelley Guerra secured 6 points in a row, and relight the fire. The Lions clinched their victory in a 25-14 win, defeating Lesley 3-1.
Against Western New England, Emerson's Jules Augustine (#14) had 8 Kills, leading the offense for the match. Elaine Nichols had 17 set assists and 2 service aces. In addition Sam Harton made some critical digs, allowing the Lions to win necessary rallies. Emerson won 25-19, 25-18, and 25-16, winning their second match of the day, and bringing their total record to 4-3.
Stat Leaders for Western New England include Olivia Lathrop with 10 kills and tied with 7 kills, teammates Carly Skibinski and Kelsey Armstrong.
