Lady Lions Defeated in Close Contest to MIT

Box Score

It was a devastating day today for the Emerson Lions, who faced a close defeat at MIT. The game was was dead even with both teams peppering the net with shots. Emerson's Kristin Brice led the Lions with 23 points, the next closest being Sierra Ducey at 10. However MIT's Mari Kordell and Sabrina Drammis each scored 20 points, keeping them even in the game down to the last minute. Drammis made two foul shots to secure MIT's victory over the Lions 66-65, by a single point.

The first half saw Emerson gaining an early lead with two shots by Brice in the first two minutes. MIT would answer, coming back from a 9-2 deficit to take the lead at 13-15. Both teams fought to keep ahead, but the first half would show each team's resilience as the half ended in a tied, 31-31.

The second half had MIT and Emerson trade places at the top, keeping the score always within a couple shots. Emerson went 50% in three-pointers but unfortunately MIT's 2nd chance opportunities would give them the extra points needed to stay in the game. The half came to end when Drammis went two for two on the free throw line with only 18 seconds left.

The Women's Basketball team is now 11-9 overall and 5-6 in conference. They look ahead to Springfield at home on Saturday, February 7th, at 1:00pm.
